Inspirational, Motivational Quotes & Giggles for Your Day

I haven’t blogged in a while, so I hope you all had pleasant Holidays (MLK Day, Chinese New Year, Mardi Gras, Ash Wednesday, Superbowl — you know it’s a Holiday for some, haha). And, I wish you relaxed and enjoyable Valentine’s and President’s Days.

This past few weeks, I came across several quotes that were shared between weight lifters for inspiration and motivation. I initially recorded them for my personal use and just recently decided to share them with you all (so, sorry, the authors are not listed). As they were meant as exercise/weight lifting motivation, some may not apply to everyone. If you’ve read my About Me page, you know I love weight training. I realize some feel that it’s a vain sort of endeavor, but it’s one of the things that’s consistently brought me happiness. And, let me tell ya, anything that provides more peace and joy in my life is welcome. Cardio workouts are another matter, lol. I only have a few activities that I really have fun with, so I stick with those. I also enjoy yoga, but I think what I practice is better termed faux-ga. The most polite way I can describe it is it’s a Western culture appropriation of traditional yoga practices. I have been utilizing the traditional poses (for flexibility and balance) for nearly 20 years, but I didn’t know the practice’s entirety when I started. I just happened to pick up a video tape and enjoyed the techniques and breathing exercises.

This is the quote that started me compiling this list: “STAY AWAY FROM PEOPLE WHO MAKE YOU FEEL LIKE YOU ARE HARD TO LOVE.” I would add to that, stay away from those who reject you, exclude you, or treat you like an outcast. Now, that’s not always possible. Sometimes, we need to work through relationships. Like, I’m not saying you should go right now to your spouse, parents, boss, co-workers, etc., and say, “My inspirational quote for the day told me to leave, so I’m out!” haha 😀

I found that beyond inspiration and motivation, many of these words brought me comfort. Words can so often soothe our souls. And, some are just meant to be silly, so don’t take them that seriously. They just gave me a chuckle. We know that a merry heart doeth good like a medicine.

One last piece before the quotes: I found an article I hope many of you will take a look at. You know I did an internship at Camp Wellness, so I thought I would add this to the post (as it has to do with exercise).

“It’s that time of the year when people are trying to keep their new year’s resolution to be active. But for more than 20 per cent of the population, there is a major barrier to physical activity – mental health…for many who live with a mental illness, the idea of going to a gym, joining a team, or taking a class provokes feelings of anxiety.” How Mental Illness Holds People Back from Exercise | Globalnews.ca.

Here are the quotes! There are quite a lot, so perhaps you can read a couple each day. If you find one that really speaks to you, why not put it on your fridge, bathroom mirror, or car dashboard? It’s always nice to keep comforting words before us (for me, anyway). Take care!
